The urban long-term planning area of Zhaoyuan is 60 square km, and the constructed area is 10.8 square km with a population of 100,000. The area of greenbelt is 3.42 million square meters which is 32.2% of the total urban areas. The heat-supplying ratio in the urban area is 79.4%. Equipped with German equipment, the sewage farm is able to dispose of 88.6% of the urban sewage without twice pollution. Moreover, all urban rubbish can be disposed in this city. The atmospheric environment is close to a national standard of first grade. The water supply is sufficient and in accordance with the national standard of drinking water. Since 1998, Zhaoyuan has been named "National Sanitary City" and "National Advanced City in Overall Urban Environment Control" by the National Sanitation Committee and Construction Administration of China.
